Children & Adolescents

The younger years can be some of the most exhilarating, but yet challenging. Adolescence in particular is a time of significant emotional, social, psychological and physical changes, which along with environmental factors, can lead to a range of mental health challenges. Young people can benefit significantly from a professional relationship, outside of their social circle of family and friends. This support can have helpful ripple effects throughout both adolescence and adulthood, providing a buffer against socio-emotional challenges, unhelpful risk-taking and educational difficulties.

Clinical Psychologist and mother, Kerry (owner and operator of Still I Rise Psychology), has a special interest and knack for working with young people and has extensive experience helping teens and their families, including as part of South Australia’s former statewide Adolescent Outreach Service (Adolescent Complex Care Unit ), within community Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services and as a youth outreach service volunteer. Being employed within the public sector for well over a decade working with children, adolescents and their families, as well as within schools and private practice, served to reinforce Kerry’s passion and skill-set for helping young people and their families.

Youth & Adults

Sometimes the most courageous thing to do is to seek help. None of us are immune to adversity, trauma, and the common (sometimes unexpected) hurdles of life. Whether you’re juggling work and study, feeling the pressures of parenthood or mid-life, or are feeling socially isolated in your retirement years, psychological therapy via the privacy of telehealth offers you confidential and effective professional support.

As a mother herself, Kerry understands the pressures of modern parenting.  She has a special interest in women’s mental health, trauma, and supporting parents.  Kerry has completed training (and subsequent Medicare Provider Services approval) enabling her to offer additional Medicare rebates for non-directive pregnancy support counselling services; provided to clients who are currently pregnant or who have been pregnant in the preceding 12 months who may have parenting, health or relationship concerns (NB: such a GP referral is not specifically for a mental health disorder).

In private practice, Kerry has worked with clients of all ages.  Having also worked in the child and youth sector for well over a decade, Kerry has a vast experience supporting families and has a respectful, collaborative, genuinely compassionate and down-to-earth approach that will help you to feel comfortable within a non-judgmental and safe therapeutic space.

Outreach/Walk & Talk

Whilst Still I Rise Psychology is predominantly an online boutique clinic supporting South Australians statewide, a hybrid model of both telehealth and in-person (mobile outreach)/Walk & Talk Therapy services is offered to SA-based clients (with pre-established rapport). This effective service delivery model may be offered if such an assertive, behavioural/exposure-based approach is deemed important in meeting your, or your child’s, therapeutic needs.

Personalised, in-person professional support within populated locations such as shops, libraries or parks can be instrumental for clients suffering from concerns such as Anxiety (e.g. Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia and Generalised Anxiety Disorder), Depressive Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders (e.g. Complex Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or Adjustment Disorder). Therapy can be provided during outings, where you or your child can benefit from professional support in-person or via telehealth, to help reach your goals.

NB: Situational factors, including the client’s location within SA are taken into consideration.  Mobile outreach services are currently offered to clients residing in the Eastern, North-Eastern & Northern suburbs of Adelaide.
